Symptom profile of common colds in school-aged children

The symptom diaries for 81 previously healthy children aged 5-12 years with colds showed that 10-20% felt feverish in the first 4 days of illness. Nasal congestion and discharge persisted for at least one week in approximately 50%. Approximately 75% of children still had one or more cold symptoms at ten days after onset of the cold.
